انجمن بین المللی جامعه شناسان بدون مرز/شاخه ایران ایمیلی به پروفسور والرشتاین فرستاده است که در آن ضمن خیرمقدم به ایشان به فقدان آزادی علمی و اندیشه و بیان دانشوران، دانشگاهیان، دانشجویان و پژوهشگران در کشور اشاره کرده و از وی بعنوان فردی که می تواند صدایی برای همکاران خود در ایران باشد درخواست شده است که متن بیانیه انجمن را با تاکید بر حبس و محرومیت بسیاری از جامعه شناسان ایرانی را مطالعه کرده و در سخنانش بدان اشاره نماید. امید موثر بیفتد.
